Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics lose Game 2, Jayson Tatum defends Joe Mazzulla

The Celtics lost their second straight game in the Eastern Conference Finals at home to the Heat on Friday night 105-111 in Game 2.

It was a pretty even game throughout, with the only real disparity being the rebound battle, as Miami had 10 more than Boston at 45-35, and steals; Miami had nine to Boston’s two.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics in Game 2, finishing with 34-points on 50 percent shooting, 13 rebounds, and eight assists to go along with 12 trips to the free throw line and hitting 11.

It’s worth mentioning again that this game was pretty even throughout. Miami made 42 shots to Boston’s 37.

In the end, Jimmy Butler and the Heat were able to make tougher shots down the stretch than anyone on the Celtics.

During his postgame press conference, Tatum defended Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla by saying the team needs to make shots and not turn the ball over, something Mazzulla didn’t do on the court tonight.

This is something we’ve heard before and as recent as Game 1 of this series. Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon have both expressed that Mazzulla calling a timeout in the moment won’t suddenly make them start hitting shots.

The Celtics are now in a terrible position going down to Miami 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Game 3 is Sunday night in Miami.
