Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics Files: Tatum, White, Porzingis, Tillman, Other Notes and Takeaways

The Boston Celtics are 5-0 since returning from the All-Star break, averaging a +25.8 scoring differential during this span over the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Golden State Warriors.

Jaylen Brown has scored at least 18-points in eight consecutive games, averaging 24.1 points per game during this span. Brown’s also added 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as well. There was a span of :58 seconds where Brown hit three consecutive 3-pointers in the second quarter on Sunday afternoon against the Warriors.

Jayson Tatum scored a smooth 27-points and hit 4-of-5 from deep as he watched his team in the fourth quarter finish a blowout victory on his birthday from the bench.

Xavier Tillman saw more run for the second straight game, receiving 18-minutes and finishing with seven-points, four rebounds, and one steal. Tillman fits in well with Boston’s group and it’s looking like another great trade deadline add for GM Brad Stevens.

The Celtics went on to win by 52-points against the Warriors on Sunday and they have a tough few upcoming games on their schedule against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, and Phoenix Suns this week.

Other notes and takeaways:

  • Boston’s 44-point halftime lead over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday is the largest in franchise history.
  • Jayson Tatum showed why he’s ahead of Luka Doncic in the MVP race on Friday in Boston’s blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks.
  • Kristaps Porzingis was sidelined on Sunday against the Warriors due to a quad contusion he received on Friday vs the Mavericks.
  • Derrick White has hit 151 3-pointers this season and is only 34 away from reaching the incentive in his contract of 185.
  • Neemias Queta is out with injury after hyperextending his right knee with Maine on Friday.
  • Boston is currently on an NBA-best 11-game winning streak.

The Celtics play the Cavaliers next on Tuesday in Cleveland.
