Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Michelle Wu officially made April 14 Mike Gorman day in the city of Boston

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu put an edict in place to officially make April 14 Mike Gorman Day in the city of Boston. It’s a great gesture to recognize Gorman as a legendary figure in the city after 43-years of calling Celtics games.

Gorman’s final call will be on Sunday against the Washington Wizards. He said earlier this week on the Celtics Talk podcast with Chris Forsberg that he’s unsure on how he’s going to make his final call, essentially saying goodbye, he says he’s not ready for.

The Celtics will be honoring Gorman with an extended in-arena halftime celebration with a video tribute and guests. The team will also be wearing special edition Gorman warmups for pregame.

There is only a small majority of fans who remember Celtics games before 1980 that were called by someone other than Gorman. His 43-years is the longest tenured in Boston professional sports.

He is a legend.
