Payton Pritchard’s role on the Boston Celtics is ascending within every game this season. He is playing cool, calm, collected, and confident in every game this season and it shows with the way he plays.
Pritchard is averaging 16.2 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting from the field and 42.7 percent shooting from behind the arc. He also grabs 2.8 rebounds, makes 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
In Boston’s last game against the Brooklyn Nets, Pritchard scored 23-points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and went 5-of-9 from deep. He had six rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one block in 36 minutes off the bench.
Pritchard became the first Eastern Conference player in NBA history to have a stat line like Pritchard did off the bench, according to Stat Muse.
After the game in Brooklyn, both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown praised Pritchard and talked about his importance to the team.
Pritchard’s role is to enter the game off the bench, provide energy, and run the show for the Celtics. Pritchard’s only focus is to do what he can to help the Celtics win.
“I just play as hard as I can until they say there’s a sub coming in for me and then I go sit on the bench. When I’m out there, I’m worried about just trying to increase the score or get the score back to even.”
Pritchard has been excellent this season. He leads the NBA in bench scoring and is one of the early favorites to win Sixth Man of the Year.
He is extremely important for the Celtics moving forward this season.
