As the Boston Celtics reshaped the roster by moving on from their longest tenured player in Jaylen Brown, it was speculated that LeBron James could find his way to playing for Boston as he’s now a free agent for the fourth time in his career.

Celtics legend Paul Pierce made it clear that he doesn’t want to see LeBron play for Boston. He suggests that LeBron should go back home to Cleveland for the second time.

While at Derrick Fisher’s 3rd Annual Be Better Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament, Pierce had this to say about LeBron and his future.

“I think his best fit is with Cleveland.”

“No, we don’t want him on the Celtics.”

“He can do whatever he wants at this stage. His decision is his decision, man. I’m not holding my breath waiting on him to make a decision. Whatever decision he makes is gonna be the right one.”

Pierce and Lebron have a serious history on the court together. During Pierce’s heyday with the Celtics, he played Lebron’s Cavaliers 60 times total, with 30 in the regular season and 30 in the playoffs.

In the regular season, Pierce finished with a record of 17-13 against LeBron. In the playoffs, they faced off in four different series- three times against Cleveland and once against Miami.

Pierce got the better of LeBron in 2008 and 2010 when they eliminated the Cavs, but LeBron returned the favor in 2011 and 2012 when he was with the Heat.

The battles between Pierce and LeBron eventually grew into a rivalry with Boston and Cleveland/Miami and the fanbases.

LeBron joining the Celtics never seemed legitimate and it likely never will be.
