The Boston Celtics started the offseason by moving on from Jaylen Brown after ten-years in an effort to reset the roster to better align their books to the regulations of the new CBA.

In doing so, the Celtics are preparing for the next wave of the franchise by securing its top talent for the foreseeable future.

This includes contract extensions for Neemias Queta, Ron Harper Jr., and Jordan Walsh this offseason, to go along with a core group of players under contract for the next handful of years:

• Payton Pritchard (29-years-old): 2027-28
• Baylor Scheierman (26-years-old): 2028-289
• Sam Hauser (29-years-old): 2028-29
• Hugo Gonzalez (20-years-old): 2028-29
• Jordan Walsh (22-years-old): 2029-30
• Ron Harper Jr. (26-years-old): 2029-30
• Neemias Queta (27-years-old): 2030-31

It’s worth mentioning that Pritchard is eligible for an extension beginning in October. He already signed a team-friendly extension in 2023, so he could do it again and it would still be a big payday for him.

Scheierman (extension-eligible next summer) and Gonzalez are currently on their rookie contracts, Queta and Walsh just got their extensions. It shows the framework being created for the near future of the franchise.

The Celtics also just drafted two high upside players in Chris Cenac Jr. and Dillon Mitchell, that just had a great performance in Summer League.

It’s too early to say what the future holds for them, but it looks promising and Boston has a well established developmental program.

The trade of Brown gave Boston a pair of future first round and second round draft picks, with there being a possibility of it being a top 10 pick in 2028.
