It was almost one year ago when the Boston Celtics introduced Ime Udoka as their 18th head coach in franchise history. It was during his first press conference where Udoka said the goal is to raise Banner 18, which were very large words at the time.

Since his introductory press conference, and although it took time, Udoka transformed the Celtics into a championship contender in his rookie season as a head coach.

That introductory press conference took place on June 28, 2021. Udoka stayed true to his word in getting the full potential out of this Celtics team.

But most importantly, Udoka stayed true to himself and his philosophies in what he wants to do as head coach of the Celtics. By doing so, the Celtics landed in the NBA Finals and are four wins away from doing what Udoka said he came here to do: raise Banner 18.
