For the Boston Celtics, Jaylen Brown has been the most important element for their team in the NBA Finals. Brown’s averaging 22.3 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists through four games in the Finals.
Although the turnovers are still a huge issue for Brown, it’s still more of a team issue more than anything. Yes, it seems as if Brown is has turned the ball over more often than not in this series.
It’s his teammate Jayson Tatum who’s on the verge of making NBA history for the most turnovers in a single playoff run. However, breaking it down to only the Finals, Brown has 10 turnovers to Tatum’s 14.
The turnovers aren’t the only factor in play for Boston in the Finals, as getting themselves into foul trouble early has played an impact. Take a look at what Sean Grande, Celtics play-by-play radio broadcaster, came up with when crunching the numbers.
Brown has been efficient while calculating his every move of this series thus far. However, it shows that Brown plays more cautiously and frugal when he has two fouls on him.
Two fouls out of the allowed five isn’t bad at all, especially considering you need six to foul out.
For the Celtics to be successful in these next few games, Brown needs to continue to play aggressively and not think about the fouls he’s previously committed.
