The Boston Celtics made another big acquisition for their franchise, manufactured by Brad Stevens of course.
Once again, Brad Stevens is playing chess while the rest of the league is playing checkers. In doing so, Stevens put together a trade with the Indiana Pacers for Malcolm Brogdon.
In exchange for Brogdon, the Pacers will receive Aaron Nesmith, Daniel Theis, Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan, Nik Stauskas, and a 2023 first-round draft pick.
What Stevens did here was essentially clean up the end of his production-less bench and turn it into an elite playmaker in Brogdon.
Stevens set up his franchise stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with an offensive technician in Brogdon.
It’s worth mentioning that Brogdon is only one of five players to average 20+ points per game, 5+ rebounds per game, and 5+ assists per game over the last two seasons.
He’s also just one of three players to get into the 50-40-90 club in the last 10 years.
Brogdon is eager to get started in Boston and help win a championship, thus raising Banner 18.
“This Boston team is experienced and hungry to win a championship. I’m excited to be a part of the Boston family and compete for that Championship.”
