Grant Williams put on a show in year three for the Boston Celtics. He improved every aspect of his game and at one point was the best 3-point shooter in the NBA for a wide stretch last season. In fact, Grant produced the second best shooting season in Celtics history last season.
In doing so, Williams shot 47.5 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from behind the arc, and 90.5 percent from the charity stripe. Furthermore, there was a window last season where Grant would have joined the NBA’s 50-40-90 club had the season ended a bit earlier.
The only other player in Celtics history to produce such a season was Larry Bird in 1987-88 when he averaged 52.7 percent from the field, 41.4 percent of his 3-pointers, and 91.6 percent of his free throws.
Grant is poised for a huge season in his fourth year with the Celtics. He proved a lot last year and has to do it again as he’s searching for an extension to happen sometime this year.
