Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Danilo Gallinari testing new moves in Italy prior to first season with the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics couldn’t have addressed a more vital need for bench production and veteran leadership this offseason by signing Danilo Gallinari in free agency using the mid-level exception.

Since he signed with Boston, Gallinari has had one thing in mind this offseason prior to the start of the 2022-23 NBA season with his new team: train and improve, despite entering his 15th year in the league.

A few weeks ago, Gallinari posted a video of him working on a “new trick” in the gym to attack the paint from the top of the key. It’ll allow him to attack the basket by searching for weak-side rotations and switches.

Gallinari is currently playing for Italy in the FIBA summer World Cup qualifiers. In his most recent game against France, Gallinari used his new move to perfection while being guarded by three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert.

Although Gallinari has literally been all over the world since signing with the Celtics, his number one goal remains to help Boston raise Banner 18 next season. He explains:

“The goal is the ring with Boston.”

Gallinari added:

“At the Celtics there are certainly many responsibilities and expectations. However, the young people in Boston already have experience and have shown it, plus playing at home with that audience is a great advantage.”

The Boston Celtics couldn’t have acquired a more perfect fit for their team than they did with signing Gallinari in free agency. His experience and 3-point sharpshooting (career 38.2 percent) will prove to be invaluable for the Celtics this upcoming season.
