The Boston Celtics revealed a new city edition jersey to their wardrobe this season that pays homage to the legendary Bill Russell. It was even rumored that Russell helped design and share his thoughts on this jersey prior to him passing away in July.
The jersey features a font derived from Slade’s Bar & Grill in Boston, a historical place in Boston which Russell owned in the 1960’s. The 11 gold diamond shapes you see around the jersey and belt buckle with Russel’s No. 6 signify the 11 championships Russell won in Boston, the most by any player in league history.

The Celtics will have another tribute for Bill Russell on his birthday, Feb. 12, against the Grizzlies. You’ll want to be rocking a city jersey at that game!
