The Boston Celtics will meet the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night for the first time this season since the two teams negotiated a trade during the offseason.
The trade featured Boston sending Aaron Nesmith to Indiana in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, along with other players and fillers along the way.
Boston drafted Nesmith 14th overall in 2020, as a 6-foot-5 versatile wing who declared himself as the best shooter in his draft class, but he didn’t have a chance to showcase himself as such being behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
With a better opportunity for him in Indiana, Nesmith has started 15 of 27 games this season and is averaging 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game with 43/39/85 shooting splits.
Nesmith spent two seasons in Boston and is looking forward to returning to the TD Garden and seeing his former teammates.
“I’m looking forward to this game. It will be a lot of fun getting to see the guys again and competing against them.”
