Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics: MJ’s Hornets to honor Bill Russell vs Celtics tonight

After losing the first two games of 2023, the Boston Celtics have gone on to win five games in a row and are looking to get their sixth in Charlotte tonight.

While at the Spectrum Center tonight, Michael Jordan and his Hornets will honor basketball legend and icon Bill Russell by unveiling a No. 6 Russell jersey that’ll hang in the Spectrum rafters forever.

Here’s what Michael Jordan, Chairman of the Hornets, said about the event taking place vs Boston tonight:

“Bill Russell was a pioneer – as a player, as a champion, as the NBA’s first Black head coach and as an activist. He paved the way and set an example for every Black player who came into the league after him, including me. The world has lost a legend.”

No. 6 has been retired league-wide in honor of Russell after his passing. We see a No. 6 patch on the shoulders of all player’s jerseys this season and a No. 6 emblem at the half court by the scorers table.

This’ll be a high-class showing from MJ and the Hornets organization.
