It’s the end of an era. Tom Brady has officially retired from the NFL. It has me reminiscing on the time he worked with the Boston Celtics in an effort to lure Kevin Durant to Boston back in 2016.
Durant admitted that after meeting Brady, he wanted to sign with the Celtics.
“I was ready to just say, ‘All right. Let’s go. I’m ready to go,’ seeing Tom Brady there. Just seeing someone so successful at his craft and just a great ambassador for the game of football and the city of Boston, it was just great to be in the presence of greatness.”
This meeting included former team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, former head coach Brad Stevens, co-owner Steve Pagliuca, former players Isaiah Thomas and Kelly Olynyk, and the longest tenured player on the team, still, Marcus Smart.

If this sales pitch worked, Brady could’ve been part of bringing a championship to the Celtics, becoming the first player to do so in multiple sports in Boston.
Brady’s greatness will live forever. He’s the goat.
