The Boston Celtics are looking to make a move at the trade deadline that’s set to expire in just a week on Feb. 9. Not to mention they’ll likely take a dive into the buyout market and see what’s available.
Let’s take a look at the current rumors and trade targets linked to the Celtics.
1. Kelly Okynyk
There’s been rumors of the Celtics reuniting with Okynyk since the end of December. The money can work it’s just a matter of Brad Stevens working his magic to his predecessor Danny Ainge.
2. Jakob Poeltl
The Poeltl rumors continue to grow even after the huge asking price from San Antonio to the tune of two first round draft picks. Not to mention he’s essentially a rental and will hit free agency this summer.
3. PJ Washington
The Hornets are unlikely to part ways with PJ Washington, however, I think if the offer was just right, the trigger will be pulled and the Celtics have a lot to offer for a team searching to rebuild and upgrade.
4. Will Barton
Chris Haynes reported that Will Barton hasn’t been in the Wizards regular rotation for months and he’s unlikely to finish the season in Washington. With “mutual interest” there’s room for a buyout deal to get done.
In a recent interview during Celtics pregame on NBC Sports Boston, Wyc Grousbeck told the crew that he’s encouraging Brad Stevens to “muscle up” at the deadline.
Remember, Stevens moves in silence, but we should see some action in the next few days as the deadline is expiring.
