The Boston Celtics updated their injury report prior to tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at the TD Garden.
For the Celtics
Marcus Smart will most likely ride the injury report through All-Star break and that’s the best decision for him and the team. The ankle injury he suffered three weeks ago in Toronto is the same ankle he injured in the playoffs last year. It took most of the summer for Smart to get back to the court.
Jaylen Brown is going to miss a few weeks with a facial fracture he suffered in Wednesday’s games vs the 76ers. Brown took an elbow to the face from his own teammate Jayson Tatum, as Boston’s duo went up for the same rebound.
Al Horford missed Boston’s last game with a knee injury. It was unexpected to see. We still haven’t heard much about it, so expect him to be at least upgraded to available for tonight’s game.
Rob Williams tweaked his ankle in Detroit and then missed the last game vs Philly because of it and is tagged as available.
Jayson Tatum is also dealing with a non-COVID illness and is tagged as questionable.
Malcolm Brogdon is a late update to the injury report with right achilles soreness and is tagged as probable.
Danilo Gallinari is managing well with ACL recovery and could make his season debut sooner than later by the way his workouts are going.
For the Hornets
Kelly Oubre had left hand surgery and is planning to make his return after the All-Star break.
Cody Martin missed Wednesday’s game vs the Wizards with left knee soreness and will be a game time decision ahead of tonight’s game.
We’ll continue to monitor the injury report for both teams leading up to tipoff at 7:30 PM tonight in Boston.
