Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics Files: Jrue Holiday made plays all over the Suns on Thursday in Boston

The Boston Celtics defeated the Phoenix Suns for the second time in five days, 127-112, on Thursday in Boston, and a player who made plays all night was Jrue Holiday.

Holiday finished the game with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting. He made 10 assists, two, steals, two blocks, and only committed one foul in the game.

Most impressively, Holiday didn’t turn the ball over in this game. He made 31 passes and had 10 assists that created 26-points in Boston’s 15-point win.

Holiday ended the game tied for the game-high in plus-minus with +26 along with Jayson Tatum, who scored 26-points on 10-of-18 shooting.

Holiday also had the game-high for blocks (2) and assists (10) in this game.

He made plays all over the Suns, on both ends of the court, that is. Here’s some of the plays that stood out:

Two-Handed Block, Assist On Other End

In the first quarter, there was a sequence where Holiday blocked Drew Eubanks under the basket with two hands. Phoenix ended up scoring but Holiday brought the ball up the court and carved out a beautiful assist to Luke Kornet that split two defenders.

No-Look Passes

Holiday made five assists in the third quarter and one of them was to Al Horford on a no-look pass from the paint to behind the arc, to which Horford made for his fourth 3-pointer of the night.

Defense Into Offense

Holiday’s two steals both came when he was defending Bradley Beal. The one that stood out to me was in the third quarter when he got the ball free and then casually hit a 3-pointer on the other end.

Holiday showcased himself in this game and the Celtics benefited from it. He’s been great this season.
