Robert Williams returned to action in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals after returning from his knee injury that had him out for four games. He looked great and played even better. In doing so, Williams played the best game of his playoff career in Game 1.
Williams recorded 18 points on 6-8 shooting, nine rebounds, and one assist in 28 minutes. His efforts in this game can’t go unnoticed, as Williams was the only Celtics player to register a positive plus/minus of plus-5.
Celtics head coach Ime Udoka made it clear that Williams was good to go and was not going to have any type of minutes restrictions- it’s worth mentioning that Udoka said this before the Al Horford news broke, however, I didn’t think a minutes restriction was a bad idea.
Based on his comments, Williams was thankful his knee held up for the duration of the game.
“It felt good getting back out there. Thankfully I made it through the game. But like I said, it just felt good being back out there with my team.”
Horford’s status is still up in the air and with Game 2 being tonight, it could be another long night for Williams in the center spot.
We’ll keep an eye on that development as the day goes on.
Game 2 tips-off at 8:30PM in Miami.
