The Boston Celtics and Al Horford have come to an agreement on a contract extension that will keep Horford in Boston through his 39th birthday in the 2024-25 season and is worth $20 million over two years.
Horford is in the final year of his four-year $109 million contract originally from the 76ers back in 2019 when he left Boston as a free agent.
Looking over his time in Boston, Horford has always been an important element to what the Celtics have been trying to accomplish.
In fact, the argument could be made that Horford was the original piece to Boston’s championship puzzle when he first signed in 2016.
Horford has been a pivotal piece in the development of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown over the years. He’s invaluable to the Celtics and will retire in Boston when it’s all said and done.
