The Celtics have lost four of their last six without Smart
Boston Celtics point guard and defensive standout Derrick White believes the Celtics can get back to playing a high level of offense while Marcus Smart is recovering from an ankle injury.
White is averaging 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, and is the only player on the Celtics to play in every game this season. He has a solid opportunity to make an All-NBA Defensive Team this year.
This is what White said after their last game against the Suns on Friday night:
“We just have to get back to what we were doing while he was in there. Obviously Smart is special and the things he does for us, only Smart does, but you’ve just got to step up and get the same looks, the same spacing, the same opportunities.”
I appreciate White being honest and saying just because Smart isn’t playing right now, doesn’t mean they can’t generate the same looks, spacing, and opportunities.
The Celtics will play again tonight in Detroit at the Little Ceasers Arena at 7:00 PM.
