The Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night at the TD Garden to the tune of 106-99, but at the expense of Jaylen Brown who left the game in the first half with a facial fracture after taking an unintentional elbow from Jayson Tatum as the two went up to get the same rebound.
After missing Boston’s last game, Brown didn’t return to this game and now his All-Star nod is in question, as he’s expected to be out through the All-Star break.
During his postgame press conference, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla was asked about Brown’s status, however he didn’t have an update to share, saying he called Brown after the game but he didn’t answer.
It’s fair to say with Brown expected to be on the sidelines for some time, the Celtics need to bolster and revamp their wing position while the trade deadline and buyout market is still an option.
In a perfect world, Brown will return in a few weeks, probably wearing a mask for the first time in his career, although, he has worn goggles earlier in his career.
We’ll continue to monitor any reports about Brown’s status and Boston’s plans moving forward.
