Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics Drawing Interest From Portland and Denver for All-Star Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics are still likely to trade All-Star Jaylen Brown after missing out on Giannis Antetokunmpo last week to the Miami Heat. Since then, the speculation has only grown and it seems like this might be the straw to break the camel’s back on his time in Boston after 10-years.

In the aftermath of trying to trade Brown, it’s reported that the Celtics are looking to get upwards of four first round draft picks in exchange for him. There aren’t many teams with that kind of capital on hand, which is going to limit their market unless Boston changes their asking price.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are one of the few teams that have the draft capital that Boston is interested in. It includes five first round picks from 2027-31 and Portland has young talent that Boston could ask for in return, such as center Donovan Clingan and forward Toumani Camara.

Portland could also move Jerami Grant, as they were already intending to use him to “get into the mix” for Antetokounmpo, as Marc Stein reported. And Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Portland is making Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe available.

Scotto also noted that Boston could solve their center problem and a possible replacement for Brown with Clingan and Camara.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets have drawn interest in Brown. They don’t necessarily have the draft capital that Boston is looking for, but they do have some veteran players that could make an impact for the Celtics.

Bill Simmons proposed a trade that featured Jamal Murray and Cam Johnson for Brown and Sam Hauser, and in the end, it could save both sides money, which is what they’re trying to do here.

Other Teams

Some of the other teams that have considerable talent and draft capital are the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Utah Jazz.

It’s important to keep in mind that NBA free agency starts on Tuesday evening.
